Hi there! I am Amber

I grew up in the Netherlands where I learned how to bake from my great grandpa who was a professional baker. He invented the Dutch "gangmaker" cookie. In his honor I kept on inventing cookies, cakes and other goodies myself that I like to share with you.

In 2017 I moved to the USA where I live, study and work. On my days off, I like to read and bake! I create my own pastries. All my creations have a Dutch/European base and are moderated to the American taste. Each pie, cake and cookie has a twist which makes it delicious and sophisticated.

On my 4th birthday I got this cake hat and that was the beginning of my journey...

My grandpa and great grandpa

I come from a family of Bakers and Entrepreneurs. We love to gather around for dinners and there is always cake for desert! My great grandfather used to have his own bakery in the Netherlands. Great grandpa was baking bread and cookies, my great grandma was selling it in the storefront. He invented a traditional Dutch cookie called the gangmaker, I make it often and would love for you to taste it. Mine is not as good as my great grandpa used to bake them, but for sure it's second best!

My sister

I grew up with my sister and we both like to cook and bake. She often helps me in the kitchen when we create new dishes. We both love to make pasta dishes.

Fresh baked bread

Next to pastries and cakes, I am teaching myself how to bake bread and so far, it turned out pretty good! I offer a selection of essentials to start baking your own bread at home and I recommend to enjoy it together with the pesto's and chutney's that you can find in my shop. And trust me, nothing beats the scent of fresh baked bread in your kitchen!

This video is in Dutch only, but I want to share it for this was made by a neighbor of him back in 2010. For me its a memory of exactly how my great grandfather was and how he baked in his tiny little kitchen, long after he was retired. He used to be a professional baker and he never stopped baking. He was always handing out his amazing butter cookies to literally everybody! In this video he shares measurements ratio of ingredients and the secret of a great cookie. I didn't know his neighbor was who made this video but I am so grateful for it because its a testament of looking back to a great role model for me as a baker and as a great grandpa who taught me to follow Jesus.
